Next-generation autonomous driving applications need high-speed, low latency connectivity solutions which can be used in heterogeneous, distributed computing environments. Microchip Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MCHP) is proud to announce its first Gen 4 automotive-qualified, PCIe switch. These Switchtec PFX/PSX and PAX switches solutions provide cutting-edge compute interconnect capabilities for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Krishna Mallampati, associate director of marketing and applications at Microchip’s Data Center Solutions business unit, stated that Switchtec Gen4 switches can be used in automotive applications and offer the highest latency and bandwidth required to link the accelerator blocks and CPU. “We are delighted to finally see the fruits of many years of collaboration and bring these products to market.

Adas Switches

Switchtec Gen4 PCIe Switches are high-speed interconnects for distributed, real time and safety-critical data processing within ADAS architectures. PCIe is a popular interconnect solution for automotive markets. It supports CPUs and other accelerator devices, and offers low latency and bandwidth scaling.

Michael Truog, Senior Director of Automotive Platform Architecture at NVIDIA, stated that Microchip’s solutions are qualified to meet strict automotive market requirements. “Microchip’s automotive grade PCIe switches allow high-speed SoC connectivity as well as GPU connectivity within NVIDIA Drive.

Microchip’s ChipLink diagnostic user interface (GUI) provides extensive diagnostics and debugging capabilities. It also includes configuration and forensics tools, which can be used to quickly deploy the device. Automotive-qualified Switchtec Gen4 PCIe switches are now in production.
